THE SPECIAL 50TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT

Held each year in winter at Mindl Beach in Darwin, the Beer Can Regatta is always a crowd favourite. 
Each year thousands flock down to the beach to watch the scores of home-made rafts made from primarily from aluminium beer cans race each other along the waters off Mindl Beach.

Teams range from local kids, families, clubs, businesses and even the armed forces.

The special 50th Anniversary event in 2024 even drew teams from interstate and businesses like Pauls Milk made not only built rafts, but also displays and even a floating milk store out of cans (and in their case - empty cardboard mild cartons.)

There was also other contests like sand sculptures for the kids, thong throwing and races.

It was a great day with great weather and thousand's turned up - both by land and sea.....
